BEDLAM: Kayleen Sánchez, soprano; Laudon Schuett, lute.

"The magical duo BEDLAM" (Fanfare Magazine) is Kayleen Sánchez, soprano, and Laudon Schuett, lute.

With a profound understanding of historical performance practice, BEDLAM's passionate music-making is compelling and inspired. Kayleen Sánchez brings her love for period pronunciation of Renaissance English to bear, while Laudon Schuett performs on his 6-course Renaissance lute with a deep understanding of the instrument and its historical context. Their performances are richly ornamented, spontaneous, and inspired.

Sánchez and Schuett first performed together in 2012, when they were both graduate students at the Eastman School of Music. They formed BEDLAM in 2014, and have since toured extensively, offering both performances and also educational offerings in the form of master classes, lectures, workshops, and online resources. They released their debut album, BEDLAM (Athyr Records), in 2015, and their album Died for Love (Soundest Recordings) was released in 2017. Their most recent recording, and album of Renaissance Christmas music, will be released in 2024.

Kayleen Sánchez has a lovely voice and she wields it intelligently, seizing dramatic opportunities
presented by both text and music. Laudon Schuett is an intelligent and responsive partner, [...] creating dynamic and tasteful accompaniments...
