"The magical duo BEDLAM" (Colin Clarke, Fanfare Magazine) is Kayleen Sánchez, soprano, and Laudon Schuett, lute. Bedlam is a 15th and 16th century colloquial term for the Bethlem Royal Hospital in London, England. At the time it was an infamous psychiatric facility and an inspiration for artists and writers living around it. The term Bedlam eventually entered “everyday speech to signify a state of madness, chaos, and the irrational nature of the world” (Andrews et al. 1997, p.1-2, p.130-131).

Recent engagements include the Phoenix Early Music Society & Arizona State University, Pegasus Early Music, and the Rochester Early Music Festival. BEDLAM has been broadcast on Rochester’s WXXI, WWFM’s “Well-Tempered Baroque”, South Dakota Public Broadcasting, and Arizona PBS. They regularly present masterclasses and lectures at colleges and universities throughout the United States, and have presented at the Eastman Community Music School (NY), Glendale Community College (AZ), UNC Wilmington (NC), and Mary-Hardin Baylor (TX), among others. BEDLAM released its debut album, BEDLAM (Athyr Records) in 2015, and their latest album, Died for Love (Soundset Recordings) was released in June of 2017.
